A drug trafficker from Stockton was sentenced to 15 years in prison after he was nabbed in an undercover operation that led to the seizure of massive amount of dangerous narcotics, including heroin and fentanyl, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced.
Alphonso Jimenez, 34, was sentenced Monday in connection with a joint Drug Enforcement Administration and San Joaquin County Metropolitan Narcotics Task Force investigation, acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith said.
The probe began in 2021 when federal and state officials teamed up to investigate reports of a large-scale drug trafficking operation involving Jimenez and another Stockton man, Erik D. Mendoza-Contreras.
Confidential sources working with undercover officers bought several pounds of narcotics from the pair on multiple occasions as the investigation unfolded, federal prosecutors alleged.
In February 2022, Jimenez delivered 28 pounds of methamphetamine to Mendoza with the intent to have him deliver it to a customer, according to court documents.
When officers later searched Jimenez’s home, they made a colossal discovery, the DEA announced at the time: 69.2 pounds of methamphetamine, 62.8 pounds of cocaine, 15 pounds of heroin, 9 ounces of counterfeit M-30 pills containing fentanyl, about $297,000 in cash and a gun.
Jimenez pleaded guilty to federal gun and drug charges in February 2023.
Charges are still pending against Mendoza.
