A former Stockton police sergeant faces up to eight years in prison after admitting he forced women to perform sex acts with him while on duty, authorities said.
Nicholas Bloed agreed to plead guilty to two counts of oral copulation by threat of arrest and two counts of assault by an officer under color of authority, San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas said in a news release.
“This case sends a clear message. No one is above the law, especially those entrusted to uphold it,” Freitas said in a statement. “Nicholas Bloed abused his authority and betrayed the public’s trust.”
When Bloed was arraigned in 2022, he was charged with 15 counts involving sexual assault, prostitution and bribery. All told, eight victims were included in the original charging documents.
Bloed began his employment with the Stockton Police Department in March 2008, and his ties with the city were severed in October 2022.
In addition to possible prison time, Bloed will be required to register as a sex offender for at least 20 years, according to the D.A.’s office. Freitas noted that the former law enforcement office will have two strikes under the state’s “three strikes law,” which could lead to a life sentence if he were to be convicted of another felony. He is scheduled for sentencing on May 27.
Bloed’s guilty plea “ensures he will face the consequences of his actions,” Freitas said.
