Good morning, Stockton.
The United Way of San Joaquin County is marking a major milestone this year: 100 years of service.
And for half of that time, Donna Ng has been a steadfast employee. Work that began decades ago in what she thought would be a simple summer job turned into a 50-year career, in which Ng now serves as the donor relations director.
Colleagues say Ng has been involved in just about every aspect of the United Way. And local CEO and President Kristen Spracher-Birtwhistle summed up Ng’s importance to the organization like this: “Donna is United Way.”
Learn more about Ng’s historic role — she’s the longest-serving United Way employee in the country — and her humble appraisal of her own service work.
Some other big numbers are being measured in Stockton too, but in a very different way. If you’ve filled your gas tank lately, you’ve likely noticed the skyrocketing prices at the pump.
But here’s a bit of good news: Gasoline is cheaper in Stockton than most other cities in the state.
We can’t wait to tell you all about these stories and more. Thank you for reading and for staying connected to Stockton.
