Hello, Stocktonia readers. We’re excited to kick off our fall crowdfunding campaign in today’s edition. Our goal is to raise $6,000 by Sept. 27.

We’re raising this money specifically to help support our coverage of county government and elections coverage in this critical election year.

Will you help us by chipping in?

Good morning, Stockton.

Stocktonia is proud to present an in-depth piece regarding tragedies involving migrant deaths along the United States’ southern border within sight of the surveillance cameras meant to detect them.

State investigative reporter Lillian Perlmutter and Stocktonia photojournalist Annie Barker visited the U.S.-Mexico border to investigate the phenomenon, which is especially pronounced in the mountains east of San Diego.

Around the area, reporter Andrea Baltodano continues her coverage of the legal issues of Manteca Mayor Gary Singh. And Chris Woodyard reports on the death of Wesley Shermantine, one of San Joaquin County’s most notorious serial killers.
