A Saturday shooting near north Sutter and east Flora streets in Stockton left a 17-year-old boy dead, police said.
Officers responding to a report of a shooting found the teenager suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the Stockton Police Department’s report. Paramedics took the teenager to an area hospital, where he later died.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene and are investigating the shooting. As of Monday, police had not released the teenager’s name, identified a suspect or said whether anyone specifically targeted him.
The shooting marks Stockton’s 22nd homicide of 2026 and the second reported in September.
Earlier this month, someone fatally stabbed 72-year-old Cruzita Joeanna Harris on Sept. 2 at a home on Hackberry Street. Police arrested her 21-year-old son, Kevin McKinsley-Harris, in connection with the killing and booked him into the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of murder.
