Good morning, Stockton.

It’s been a busy week at City Hall.
On Tuesday, the Stockton City Council appointed former San Joaquin County Fairgrounds CEO Steve Colangelo as interim city manager.
Colangelo, a longtime event planner and rental manager, will take over from Deputy City Manager Will Crew following the resignation of Harry Black, who stepped down Jan. 9 under threat of no-cause firing by the City Council.
Colangelo’s appointment was not without debate. Councilmembers Michael Blower, Mario Enríquez and Brando Villapudua wanted to postpone any discussion of appointing an interim city manager to a future closed-session meeting. But Councilor Michele Padilla moved to force the vote without further deliberation, with Mayor Christina Fugazi and Councilmembers Mariela Ponce and Jason Lee supporting the proposal.
Ultimately, Colangelo was ushered into his new role in a 4-3 vote.
The council also approved censure proceedings against Villapudua amid accusations that he “directed an obscene gesture — a raised middle finger — toward a member of the public” at an earlier meeting. The recommendation moved forward after no motion was made to halt the process.
