In support of our continuous effort to cover the news and inform local citizens, Stocktonia News Service will team up with Central Valley TV to hold a Stockton mayoral debate on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

The event will take place at Delta College from 6-7:30 p.m. There will not be an audience, but the debate will be streamed live on Stocktonia’s Facebook page and simulcast at 93.5 FM on KWDC Delta College Radio, and broadcast later on CVTV’s YouTube channel and on Roku TV.

The moderator will be longtime local television reporter and anchor Tim Daly, and subjects will include public safety, homelessness, housing and several others in advance of the primary elections on March 5. Stocktonia will also be taking questions in advance from the voters.

To RSVP to the livestream, please sign up here. Please submit your questions for the candidates when you RSVP, or via email to info@stocktonia.org.

All six candidates for mayor have verbally committed to participating in the debate. The candidates are businessman Shakeel Ahmad, former Councilmember Jesús Andrade, former Vice Mayor Christina Fugazi, San Joaquin County Supervisor Tom Patti, nonprofit founder and community advocate Jessica Velez, and current District 2 Councilmember Dan Wright.

They are running for the seat which is being vacated by Mayor Kevin Lincoln II, who is running in the primary for the U.S. Congress District 9 seat against incumbent Josh Harder.

The Stocktonia debate is one of several candidate forums which have taken place during the primary season. On Saturday, Feb. 24 the Women League of Voters of San Joaquin County will host a forum for candidates for the Stockton City Council District 4 seat from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at Unitarian Universalist Church of Stockton, located at 2737 Pacific Avenue.
