Candidates and their supporters gathered to watch watch elections results and get the first indications as to whether they had a super Tuesday.

Some of the local highlights:
In Stockton’s mayoral race, San Joaquin Supervisor Tom Patti led and former city Vice Mayor Christina Fugazi was second. If the trend continues they will advance to the general election. Dan Wright in running third. A candidate must clear the 50 percent threshold to get elected in the primary and avoid the general election.
In the much-anticipated District 6 City Council race, Jason Lee was in a tight race with incumbent Kimberly Warmsley, with neither likely to hit the 50-percent mark. Mariela Ponce had a significant lead in District 2, with former Stockton Mayor Anthony Silva and Waqar Rizvi separated by just 16 votes for second place. Mario Enriquez and Gina Valadez Bracamonte are leading in District 4.
Incumbent District 9 Congressman Josh Harder, a Democrat, had a large lead over Stockton Mayor Kevin Lincoln. In the state races, Republican Jim Shoemaker had the early lead over former Congressman Jerry McNerney in the contest for the State Senate District 5 seat, and Democrat Rhodesia Ransom had the early advantage in the State Assembly District 13 spot, with Republican Denise Aguilar-Mendez second and Edith Villapudua third.
