Former Stockton Unified School District Superintendent John Ramirez, who resigned in June, was arrested and charged on Thursday evening with driving under the influence.
He was approached while in the driver’s seat of his vehicle by Stockton PD officers at 9:52 p.m. Thursday at March Lane and St. Andrews Drive after the cops responded to a report of a DUI driver in the area. Officers reported signs of intoxication, and the preliminary alcohol screen test revealed a blood alcohol level of .225 percent, more than twice the legal limit of .08.
Ramirez, 51, was arrested on DUI and booked into the San Joaquin County jail for DUI. He was released Friday.
Ramirez resigned from SUSD in June 2022 after 13 months as superintendent. He was the interim superintendent for three months prior to his fulltime appointment. At the time of of his departure from the district, Ramirez planned to “care for his elderly parents,” according to a district spokesperson.
Ramirez is a graduate of Santa Clara University and earned a master’s degree in education from Harvard. He was the superintendent of the Alisal Union School District in Monterey County for six years, ending in 2016.
SUSD officials are falling like flies! John Rameriz and Marcus Battle suddenly resign as Armando Orozco is under FBI investigation. The LA Times raise serious questions over the appointment of 209 Times founder Motec Sanchez’s as a SUSD director. Positions handed out without interviews. District funds unaccounted for. A DUI charge is the least of anyone’s worry.
