A man was found shot to death on a sidewalk in Stockton early Wednesday morning in what was the 42nd homicide of the year in the city.

Stockton Police Department officers were called at 4:27 a.m. to the 4400 block of Manchester Avenue following reports of shots fired, police said.

A man who had been shot was located on the sidewalk. Life-saving measures were attempted, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Stockton PD officials.

Police said no motive has been identified and there is no releasable suspect information in the shooting.
