A shooting near a homeless encampment in the Mormon Slough area is not believed to be connected to the recent connected killings, according to the Stockton Police Department.
The shooting occurred at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday near Aurora and Worth streets. While the incident fits into the late night/early morning time frame of the series of seven shootings which resulted in six fatalities, police spokesperson Joe Silva said detectives have not established a connection.
“At this time, detectives do not believe this shooting is related to the series,” Silva said stated.
Police were called to the area on Sunday morning. Aurora and Worth streets are in a mostly industrial area and is several blocks from Ort Lofthus Crosstown Freeway. Police said a man was found wounded and taken to the hospital. Police did not release any further information about the victim.
