The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office on Thursday filed more than 10 charges against a former Stockton Police Department sergeant for allegedly committing various sexual assaults, including assault by public officer, oral copulation by force, sodomy and rape.
Nicholas Bloed, 41, was arrested and taken into custody Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Service and bail was set for more than $4 million.
Bloed, who joined the Police Department in March 2008, was charged with one count of assault with intent to commit mayhem, rape, sodomy, oral copulation, five counts of assault by a public officer, two counts of oral copulation by use of force or injury, two counts of unauthorized use of computer services, three counts of asking or receiving bribes, one count of prostitution-providing compensation and one count of sodomy by use of force, according to court documents.
The alleged misconduct took place while on the job between January 2019 and May of this year, but Stockton police did not sever ties with Bloed until October.
Following Bloed’s arrest, the Stockton Police Officers’ Association released a statement about the former employee.
“The charges and allegations against him, if proven true, are abhorrent and reprehensible,” read the statement. “These accusations in no way reflect the high standards and values of this Association and the profession of law enforcement.”
Another Stockton police officer was also arrested this week.
Officer Ny Tran was detained and turned in to the county’s district attorney’s Bureau of Investigations for an investigation their office was conducting for theft from an elder, forgery, grand theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.
He was placed on paid administration leave, according to the department.
Bloed is set to appear in court Monday at 1:30 p.m.
