A 42-year-old Stockton man who was beaten by two 7-Eleven clerks in August after allegedly robbing the store entered into a plea agreement this week.
Tyrone Frazier was charged earlier this year by the San Joaquin County District Attorney with six crimes in connection to three robberies that occurred at the 7-Eleven, which is located on South Center Street, across from the Stockton Police Department headquarters, as well as separate vandalism.
Charges included two second-degree robberies, an attempted second-degree robbery, criminal threats, burglary in the second degree, and vandalism.
The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office said Friday that Frazier was convicted of completed robbery in the second degree and received the upper term of three years.
However, since he admitted to having a prior strike, the sentence doubled to six years, prosecutors said.
On July 28, the Stockton Police Department received reports at 3:41 a.m. from an employee at the convenience store that a suspect had entered the business, went behind the counter, and threatened to shoot the employee if he intervened.
The suspect was later identified by police as Frazier.
He allegedly took several packs of cigarettes and other items and placed them in a large garbage bag before leaving the store.
The next day, July 29, police again were made aware that Frazier had returned to the store at 12:27 a.m. and demanded money. This time he allegedly had a gun, the employee reported.
When the employee did not comply, Frazier allegedly grabbed several food items and placed them in a garbage bag before leaving the store.
The same day a third robbery that was not reported to law enforcement took place. But this time it was caught on video by a person in the store. The video ultimately went viral and gained national attention.
In the video, a man believed to be Frazier is seen wearing a blue face covering, pushing around a trash can while throwing countless items into the can.
When the suspect began to push the can away, a clerk is seen trying to stop him while another employee grabs a stick and beats the robber.
Repeatedly, the worker with the stick hit the man while the other worker holds him down.
The DA’s office said they would not be pressing any charges against the workers of the store.
“I am gratified by the successful conclusion of this case, which emphasizes our commitment to justice and our businesses’ well-being. Holding offenders accountable is fundamental to ensuring a secure and vibrant environment for all,” San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas said in a statement.

Good! Time to crackdown on this BS!
