A 38-year-old man was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in Stockton from last year, police said.

The Livermore Police Department said they conducted a traffic stop Tuesday and detained Bradley Vargas for an arrest warrant issued by the Stockton Police Department for the shooting.

Stockton police said they had responded shortly before 10 p.m. on July 23, 2023 to the area of Sierra Nevada and Oak streets on a report of a person shot.

Guy Zielske, 34, of Stockton, was found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds.

He was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries, police said.

Vargas was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
