Officers cited and processed 39 prostitutes, including a 17-year-old girl who was returned to her family, during an operation combating human trafficking and crimes related to prostitution in Stockton Saturday, police said.

Additionally, 36 traffic citations were issued to men for solicitation of prostitution, four warrant arrests were made, one DUI arrest was made, 15 vehicles were towed and one vehicle pursuit arrest took place, according to Stockton police.

The operation took place on Sierra Nevada Street, Wilson Way and the Dr. MLK Jr. Boulevard corridor, police said on social media Sunday. The operation involved collaboration between detectives, officers and dispatchers, according to police.

“By conducting targeted operations in high-crime areas, the department is able to disrupt and dismantle human trafficking networks, rescue victims, and bring perpetrators to justice,” the department said in a press release on social media Sunday.
