A 2-year-old child was injured in a shooting Tuesday in Stockton, according to police.
Around 2:35 p.m., officers responded to the 1200 block of N. Commerce St. on a report of a person shot. Officers arrived at the scene and were advised that the gunshot victim was taken to a nearby hospital. At the hospital, police located a 2-year-old boy who had been shot.
As of 7:30 p.m., the boy was listed in stable condition and is expected to live.
“At this point in the investigation, the shooting appears to have been accidental,” said a spokesperson for the police department, who did not elaborate.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
