A man was arrested Saturday in Lodi in connection with a fatal 2019 shooting in Stockton, authorities said.
Rayniko Flores, 25, was taken into custody in connection with the slaying of a 22-year-old man who was shot June 26, 2019, in the 1900 block of Comstock Drive, Stockton police said in a news release.
The victim was later identified as Elijah Johnson. He was transported to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, authorities said.
Johnson, a Stockton native who was days away from his 23rd birthday, was standing outside his grandmother’s home when he was gunned down shortly after noon, according to news reports at the time.
In October 2020, police released images of a suspect and a vehicle they said were linked to the slaying.
Stockton homicide detectives continued to work the case, conducting an extensive follow-up investigation. On Saturday, that work led Stockton SWAT officers to Lodi, where they served a search warrant and took Flores into custody without incident, police said.
