A Tracy Unified School District resource officer was arrested in Stockton over the weekend on suspicion of terrorist threats, stalking, vandalism and disorderly conduct, authorities said.
Stockton police were following up on a domestic-related call about 6:30 p.m. Saturday and took Steve Flores, 53, into custody. He was arrested and booked in the San Joaquin County Jail, a police spokesperson said.
Flores is listed as a school resource officer at Kimball High School on the Tracy Police Department’s website.
Prior to his arrest, Flores had been on medical leave since a November 2023 on-duty injury, Kaylin Heefner, a spokesperson for the Tracy Police Department, said.
Tracy Unified partners with the city’s police department to staff its school resource officer positions, Heefner said. The resource officers are full-time members of the Tracy Police Department, and the role is considered a special assignment, she noted.
“Officer Flores has been placed on administrative leave due to the ongoing investigation, and no further information will be provided until the investigation is complete,” Heefner said.
Tracy Police Department’s Professional Standards and Training Division is overseeing Flores’ personnel investigation, while Stockton police will conduct the criminal investigation.
