Two Stockton truckers were arrested after state troopers in New Jersey reported they were hauling more than 10 tons of marijuana and related products, as well as psilocybin.
The arrests came last month during a commercial vehicle inspection of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 78 East in Greenwich Township, New Jersey, the New Jersey State Police said. Possession of small amounts of marijuana is legal in the Garden State, but not massive commercial quantities.
A search of the big rig turned up four tons of raw hydroponic marijuana, six tons of various cannabis/THC products and 13.4 pounds of psilocybin products, troopers said. The street value of the haul was put at $36 million.
The truck driver, Fnu Attiq Ur-Rahman, and fellow traveler Hafeez Rehman Ur were arrested, authorities said.
The two were booked into the Warren County, New Jersey, jail on Feb. 18 on charges that include suspicion of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute psilocybin mushrooms and possession of psilocybin mushrooms.
