A bicyclist died after being hit by a hit-and-run driver north of Lodi in San Joaquin County early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported at about 4:30 a.m. Monday on Jahant Road east of the state Highway 99 East Frontage Road.
A 56-year-old man was riding his bicycle east on Jahant Road when a vehicle struck him from behind, causing the bicyclist to be ejected into an irrigation ditch. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene, CHP officials said.
The driver fled and investigators had not released any suspect details in the case as of Tuesday morning. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is asked to call the CHP’s Stockton-area office at 209-938-4800.
