An investigation by the California Highway Patrol forced the closure of parts of Interstate 5 through Lathrop for several hours early Thursday.
The closure was announced around 1 a.m. in a social media post. At the time, the CHP said the closure was because of a law enforcement investigation.
Media outlets were reporting the investigation stemmed from a shooting involving a CHP officer, although Stocktonia was not immediately able to confirm that information.
All southbound traffic had been diverted off the freeway at Louise Avenue onto Manthey Road, and the onramp at Louise was also closed for a time, the CHP said.
Shortly before 9 a.m., the agency said that all lanes of I-5 had reopened.
