Deputy Chief Antonio Sajor is retiring after spending nearly three decades with the Stockton Police Department. His last day was on Friday, Aug. 1.

“(Deputy Chief) Sajor is a Stockton native well-known in the community,” Officer David Scott, public information officer for Stockton PD said. “He has built lasting relationships with community members and is widely respected for his dedication, passion, generosity and has deep care for both the department and the community.”

According to the City of Stockton’s website, Sajor joined Stockton PD in 1997. He started as a patrol officer, narcotics officer and community officer. But that was just the beginning.

Sajor yielded great success over his career. He was promoted to sergeant in 2007, lieutenant in 2011, captain in 2014 and deputy chief in 2022. He’s also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology from CSU Fresno and a Master’s Degree in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey.

Sajor has earned multiple certificates from the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. In 2017, he was awarded the Center for Digital Government’s “Best of California, Demonstrated Excellence in Project Management Award.”

Scott shared that Sajor was the first person of Filipino descent to reach the ranks of captain and deputy chief in the entire history of Stockton PD. After his final promotion, he took charge of the Logistics Bureau, a unit responsible for resource management, and oversaw changes to the department’s hiring process, departmental training, and the creation of the Community Relations Section.

After years of service and dedication, Scott suggests that community members “take a moment to wish him (Sajor) well on the next chapter of his life.”
