A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a fatal shooting in Stockton from last month, police said.
Walter Burgess was arrested Monday in connection with the shooting reported at about 6:20 p.m. on Aug. 30 in the area of Albany and Astor drives, located just north of East Hammer Lane, according to Stockton police.
Officers responded and found an 18-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital and was initially listed in stable condition, but on Sept. 16, detectives were notified that the victim had succumbed to his injuries, police said. His name was not immediately available.
Burgess was eventually identified as a suspect in the shooting, and on Monday, officers pulled over a vehicle that had Burgess as a passenger in it. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into county jail on suspicion of homicide, according to police.
