A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a fatal shooting in Stockton last month, according to police.

The shooting was reported early on the morning of Sept. 4 in the 7000 block of Tristan Circle, where officers arrived and found a 39-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital and succumbed to his injuries five days later, Stockton police said.

Joshua Tuimavave was arrested Sept. 12 for outstanding warrants unrelated to the homicide, but investigators eventually linked him to the fatal shooting as well as a separate non-injury shooting that occurred the same night, according to police.

On Wednesday, murder charges were filed against Tuimavave, who remains in custody on “no bail” status and is set to appear in court next on Friday, according to jail records.
