Police were searching Monday for a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a 36-year-old man after an argument in Stockton’s Seaport District.

Officers arriving in the 1600 block of south Airport Way at 2:19 a.m. Friday found the victim, who was rushed to a local hospital where he died.

“The nature of the dispute is unknown, however there is believed to have been some sort of gathering or event in the area,” said Officer Omer Edhah, a police spokesperson. He added that the male suspect fled before police arrived and that there was no further information on him.

No word yet on the identity of the victim from the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s office.

The killing marked the 32nd of the year, compared to 41 at the same time last year.
