Homicide investigation underway after woman found dead outside Stockton church

A woman was found dead Friday morning outside God’s Throne Church, and Stockton police say the incident was a homicide. 

Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive woman near Lindsay and Sutter streets around 8:50 a.m., authorities said.

The woman, who has not yet been publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

No suspect description or potential motive was immediately known, authorities said. Detectives have taken over the investigation.
