A police investigation briefly shut down traffic in both directions on Interstate 5 near French Camp Road on Tuesday morning, according to the Stockton Police Department.

At about 9:35 A.M, officers were conducting follow-up work in a recent shooting investigation when they located a vehicle that may have been connected to the case on southbound I-5, just south of South French Camp Road, police said.

Officers attempted to contact anyone inside the vehicle from a distance for safety reasons but received no response, according to police. As a precaution, authorities shut down and redirected all northbound and southbound lanes of I-5.

Shortly before 11 a.m., officers confirmed the vehicle was unoccupied. The vehicle was later towed, and traffic lanes in both directions were reopened, police said.

No injuries were reported in connection with the freeway closure.
