The San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified two people killed in weekend shootings that Stockton police say were unrelated, one of them a 16-year-old boy.

Police found Valentino Mark Gilmore of Stockton, 16, about 12:30 a.m. Saturday inside a vehicle that had crashed into a tree on Hickock Court in the Bearcreek District. The teen was driving the vehicle and had been shot, authorities said.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police also found a 55-year-old man near the crash site. Officers said he suffered a graze wound from a bullet. The man, whose identity has not been released, was taken to a hospital for treatment, officials said.

About 24 hours later, police responded to another shooting.

“A known suspect” fatally shot Antioch resident Ceasar Raasann Ammons Sr., 53, after an argument early Sunday in the 2100 block of Battlement Drive, Stockton police said. Ammons was shot in the leg and rushed to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries, authorities said.

Police have not identified any suspects or a motive in either case.

Although both victims suffered gunshot wounds, the medical examiner’s office has not officially determined a cause or manner of death for either victim.
