Black smoke from a buildinmg fire
Black smoke billows from a warehouse on Harrison Street in Stockton. It took firefighters about 45 minutes to control the situation

A three alarm fire broke out at a warehouse near the Stockton waterfront on Friday afternoon.

Fire crews responded around 12:30 p.m. to the 300 block of North Harrison Street, where they found a single-story metal warehouse fully involved, Stockton Fire Department Chief Bryan Carr said, according to ABC 10.

Firefighters actively battled the fire for about 40 to 45 minutes before getting it under control.

Officials believe propane tanks may have been inside the original warehouse, which could explain loud popping sounds heard during the fire. High-tension power lines above one of the nearby warehouses were also threatened by the flames, but PG&E arrived quickly and de-energized the lines.

Fire crews are expected to contain the scene before starting investigation.
