A violent Saturday in Stockton left two men injured and two others in jail after separate attacks, police said.
The first incident was reported at 9:35 a.m. in the 1600 block of Soquel Lane. A man was sleeping when someone he knew repeatedly struck him with an object, Stockton Police officials said in a report.
The victim managed to pin the assailant to the ground until officers arrived and took him into custody.
Willie Harris, 38, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Harris and the victim, who was not identified, are believed to be roommates, police said.
The victim was treated at a local hospital for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, authorities said. Officers did not specify what object was used in the attack or explain the circumstances supporting the attempted murder allegation.
About three hours later, officers responded to another attack — this time, a stabbing in the 3800 block of Alvarado Avenue.
Two men were involved in a physical altercation when one of them stabbed the other, police said. Officers found the suspected attacker nearby and took him into custody. Moises My, 31, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
The man who was stabbed was taken to a hospital with injuries that authorities said were not life-threatening.
Both Harris and My were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail. Harris is being held on $500,000 bail, while My, whose charges were less serious, is being held on $60,000 bail. Both men are slated to appear in court Tuesday.
