A 36-year-old man was stabbed after confronting a driver accused of striking him with a vehicle while he was riding a scooter in Stockton, police said.
The stabbing happened around 10:20 p.m. Monday in the 4300 block of Continental Way in the city’s Lakeview District, according to the Stockton Police Department.
Police said the man was riding his scooter when the suspect struck him with a vehicle and continued driving away. The scooter rider followed the driver and confronted him.
During the confrontation, the driver stabbed the man, police said. The attack caused injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
Responding officers arrested Michael Espinoza, 29. Police said in a report that Espinoza was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and hit-and-run. Booking records from the San Joaquin County Jail show Espinoza is being held on $25,000 bail on a misdemeanor charge of DUI and driving with a suspended license.
