The long Labor Day weekend wasn’t a restful one for Stockton police, as officers had to subdue combative suspects in separate incidents over successive nights, arrest records show.
The trouble started just after midnight Saturday when police said a pair of officers saw a driver run a stop sign. The reckless driving nearly led to a collision with a police cruiser before the man behind the wheel struck a parked car at Sonora and Union streets, authorities said.
The driver, identified as Kiburi Dynes, 46, was found to be in possession of narcotics when he was detained, police said. As officers tried to place handcuffs on Dynes, he resisted, struck one officer in the face and tried to run away, police reports show. Officers were able to catch Dynes and take him into custody.
The officer, who was not identified, required medical attention at a local hospital, police said. Dynes was booked on suspicion of battery on an officer causing injury, resisting arrest by means of violence, reckless driving and narcotics charges.
The following night, another officer was also attacked, police said.
Officers responded to the 3500 Block of west Benjamin Holt Drive after a physical fight between two men. Police said a 58-year-old man was repeatedly struck by another man. The aggressor also bit the older man, authorities said. The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries, which police described as “causing disfigurement.”
The suspect in the attack — later identified as 23-year-old Lucas Lillo — also was taken to a hospital. There, authorities say he lashed out at police, kicking an officer.
Lillo was booked on suspicion of mayhem and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury — both felonies —as well as battery on an officer, resisting arrest and being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to jail records.
