A Lincoln High School teacher was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of possessing more than 65,000 images of child sexual abuse material, authorities said. 

Nickolas Turpen-Arends, 40, was arrested after a months-long investigation into an IP address that California Highway Patrol investigators connected to his Stockton home, according to the agency’s news release. 

The thousands of images depicting child sexual abuse were found on Turpen-Arends’ desktop.

Turpen-Arends, was booked on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material, a felony, at the San Joaquin County Jail. He was later released that same day, with a promise to appear in court, jail staff told Stocktonia by phone.

A culinary arts teacher at Lincoln High School, Turpen-Arends was not the subject of any known allegations involving students, Lincoln Unified Superintendent Kelly Dextraze said in an email. 

Dextraze said Turpen-Arends has been placed on administrative leave.
