A man convicted of killing three people in a 2019 gang-related shooting in Stockton has been sentenced to three consecutive terms of life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus 75 years to life, the San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

Joaquin Cruz was sentenced following his November 2025 conviction in the murders of David Connary, Tiffany Connary, and Remilio Castillo.

District Attorney Ron Freitas said the sentence ensures Cruz will remain behind bars for the rest of his life.

“While this finality cannot erase the profound pain of losing David, Tiffany, and Remilio to this senseless shooting, my administration’s track record makes one thing undeniably clear: if you bring gang violence into San Joaquin County and take innocent lives, we will pursue you with everything we have and ensure you are taken off our streets permanently,” Freitas said.
