The Stockton Kings fan fest on Sunday at Adventist Health heralded the return of the NBA G-League western conference champions with a newly crowned rosters of players ahead of the Nov. 5 season start.
The event which was held at the Adventist Health arena included games for children, opportunities to win prizes such as t-shirts and help aspiring players in on court instructions.
Those who attended the event also got the chance to watch a preseason game between the Stockton Kings and the Santa Cruz Warriors.
The game left Kings fans with something to be desired however, the previous champions came up short losing to the warriors 128-113.
James Gibson, a recent king’s convert who attended with a group of friends, enjoyed the game but felt that the team wasn’t quite living up to their previous season’s performance.
“I think the Kings could have played better defense for one, and they need to get control of the boards, they got killed, you know, on offensive rebounds.” said Gibson.
However for others, including Alicia and Michael McKenna who attended the event with their daughter, the outcome of the game did little to dim their enjoyment.
“I made a bet with my daughter on the game,” Said Michael Mckenna, referring to several inflatable basketball games that were available to guests “I lost”
