A deputy was allegedly struck by a vehicle during an illegal sideshow that drew hundreds over the weekend in Stockton, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said.

Multiple cars converged on Country Club Boulevard and Pershing Avenue on Saturday. Three people were arrested, over 150 were detained and released, and 88 cars were seized by the time it ended.

An investigation conducted by the San Joaquin County Sideshow Taskforce infiltrated the organizers and determined where the event would be happening, according to the Sheriff’s Office. When law enforcement arrived, hundreds of people and cars blocked the roadway while a red truck began to drive recklessly in the intersection to kick off the sideshow, they said. Officers were able to contain the intersection and stabilize the area.

Three people were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of resisting arrest and fleeing in vehicles. One person was charged in connection with assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly struck a law enforcement vehicle while fleeing the scene.

Deputies allege another officer was also hit by a fleeing vehicle and sustained minor injuries.

Numerous vehicles were seized that allegedly contained drugs and loaded, illegal firearms. Seized vehicles will be held for an undetermined amount of time while the case is investigated.

The sheriff’s office is forwarding all the cases to the District Attorney’s Office, they said.
