Just over a day after a pair of fatal shootings, another man was killed by gunfire in Stockton, police said.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, was found shortly before 4 a.m. Monday in the 6700 block of Mount Elbrus Way in the city’s Bear Creek District, authorities said in a social media post.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot and found a man with gunshot wounds. He was declared dead at the scene. Police did not provide information regarding a suspect or what may have led to the shooting.
The day before, a 14-year-old girl was wounded in a separate shooting, police said.
An unidentified assailant fired multiple gunshots in the 1400 block of east Hammer Lane in the Valley Oak District about 3:30 p.m. Sunday before fleeing in a vehicle, according to a news release. The girl was struck by gunfire and rushed to a hospital. Her name has not been released, and there has been no update on her condition.
Police did not offer any information on a suspect or motive in the shooting.
The latest gun violence comes on the heels of two other fatal shootings — one Friday night and the other Saturday morning. Two men were killed blocks apart in the Valley Oak District.
The first of the weekend killings came after 8 p.m. Friday in the 400 block of east Bianchi Road. A man later identified as Tyree Jones III, 52, of Oakland was shot multiple times and died at a hospital, police said.
In the second shooting, about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, a 41-year-old man was found shot to death in the 200 block of Carson Place, authorities said. His identity has not been revealed.
Last week, BeJay Orth, 53, of Lodi was found fatally shot in a neighborhood near the University of the Pacific campus. His death was Stockton’s 47th homicide of the year, compared to 45 during the same span last year, according to the department’s monthly crime statistics.
