Two weeks after a fatal shooting left a 28-year-old woman dead in North Stockton, homicide detectives have taken a person into custody.
Giovanni Millan, 19, was located by the U.S. Marshals Service and booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of Stephanie Hernandez, Stockton police announced in a news release.
Hernandez was found shortly after 3 a.m. Feb. 15 in the 1900 block of Hickock Court with a gunshot wound. She was taken to an area hospital, where she died, authorities said.
Her death marked Stockton’s fourth homicide of the year, police said.
At the time, homicide detectives said the killing appeared to be connected to a domestic dispute. Shortly after, they identified a suspect, and an arrest warrant was issued, authorities said.
In addition to the murder charge Millan is facing, he was also booked on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a separate shooting on Jan. 25 in the 1000 block of west Charter Way. Officers did not provide additional information on that incident.
Millan is being held without bail in the San Joaquin County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
